Many people think of Asperger's Syndrome as a disability, and I do in some ways. But
Asperger's is also very much a culture in that "Aspie" people have their own interests,
values, and ways of communication, just as people in foreign countries do ...

I made a discovery today. I found a computer. Wait a second, this is
cool. It does what I want it to. If it makes a mistake, it's because I
screwed it up. Not because it doesn't like me...
                Or feels threatened by me...
Or thinks I'm a smart ass...
Or doesn't like teaching and shouldn't be here...

And then it happened... a door opened to a world... rushing through
the phone line like heroin through an addict's veins, an electronic pulse is
sent out, a refuge from the day-to-day incompetencies is sought... a [BBS] is
found.
"This is it... this is where I belong..."
I know everyone here... even if I've never met them, never talked to
them, may never hear from them again... I know you all... [credit]

I COULD HAVE WRITTEN THAT MYSELF BACK IN 1981 OR SO ...

My name is Jeffrey Bottoms and this website is all about me ... literally!

I've used the online handle "Silicon Swami" for over two decades. I wrote the book pictured just to the left as part of my therapy sessions after I was diagnosed with high-functioning autism (aka Asperger's Syndrome) in 2008. I knew for years that I was strange but never knew just why. My book was written as a love letter to the thousands of others like me who have the unique and world-changing gift of being on the autism spectrum and find themselves at home working in tech jobs.

We are people like: Einstein, Michelangelo, Davinci, Tesla and so many others...
